So i'm looking for a first car for when i get my P's in September, needs to be under $12 500.

Needs to be:
  • cheap-ish to insure
  • good fuel economy
  • reasonable power
  • good cruiser, leather would be good

I was thinking a Honda accord euro luxury, in manual. Was looking at vy-vz commodores before as well but i have gone off the idea, uses to much fuel plus too much cop attention.

any other cars worth considering? I am not one eyed or anything, so JDM, European, Australian etc doesn't matter.

Thanks

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you slap a P plate on the back of ~any~ car and you'll attractsthe cops attention.

Yes obviously, but i'm sure some cars would attract more attention then others. Eg p plate commodore or p plate toyota yaris, the commodore would be cop bait...

Will $12.5k get an Accord Euro? If it were me, I'd be happy with a Civic or an i30 or Mazda3. All decent cars, safe, well appointed, not too expensive to maintain/insure (beyond what you expect for a P plater), etc.

86 will be a great P plater car to those who have the budget to spend $35k. It's the new Integra.

I really doubt you'll get an accord euro for the price you're stating, unless it's quite old.

I'd suggest a corolla. They're one of the safest cars, fairly standard, and a good size so easy to park, but also enough room if you want to do some roadtripping, or generally carry some stuff around. And great fuel usage.

Found about 15 listings for an Accord Euro under that price in NSW.

Yep, quite a few Euro's for around that price...

Not quite sure now though, bought an Ek civic hatchback for a bargain, so i might just drive that for a while and sell it for a profit later.

Toyota 86
I wish, haven't got 35k + to spend like some of my mates at school.

BA-BF XR6 :p.

Funny thing about the XR6 - cops tend to think you're driving your Dad's car and don't give you shit lol.

my friend has an 86, the interior is so basic - maybe because he bought the standard version and there's minimal moving space!

An lexus is200 would be good as a first car ! then 250 or 350 soon after :)
