if you actually need to spend 10 hours/week for a subject, you're not studying right (or you're a complete dropkick)

lol, yeah, perhaps people are prefer the familiar...?

I just hope that it won't be like that forever. Pretty boring if people stick with the same group of friends. I thought uni was about meeting new people, broadening horizons etc...not sticking with high school cliques :p

when i did it last year, none of our balloons popped, no water spilt at all, design was thought up and made by me and one other dude, the rest were either internationals who didnt talk, or randomz who mentioned an idea for the sake of mentioning it, and idea not being used.

4th day into uni still not going well:(. I have talked to my parents and I concluded that I will just follow the flow this semester hoping for nothing more than a pass. I asked my mentor and other uni people and they all say passing is pretty easy so long you put in a reasonable amount of effort but I am not really sure what they mean by that.
The course outline suggested 10 hrs per subjects a week, is that it?
If it makes you feel better, I'm even worse than you...Being an international student means 'do it or die' for me :haha: The first 3 days were major sh*t but it got better (gradually....) so don't worry! So many ppl have made it through before us so why can't we, right?

my general work schedule:

1) do tute questions (1-2 hours)
2) go to lectures and tutes 3-6 hours. If I'm in a good mood I make harmless fun of my tutor
3) go through and make consolidated notes on lectures afterwards 30-60min
4) Organise stuff (procrastination hazard though, 15 min)
5) watch tv, hang out with people (usually from dinner till late)
6) if theres an assignment, work on it, figure out what you might have problems with.
7) go to work (8 to 16 hours pw)

Repeat in any optimal order.

I'm sure you guys will find people who are willing to be friends with you.
Not everyone asian you encounter is the nerdy type who doesn't like to socialise, etc.

theres always help.

Always ask ur tutor in tutorials if u dont understand something, no matter how stupid it may seem. If you're finding it very hard then theres a good chance that others are too.

Find out how much each exam/assessment is worth, so you know that if u fail one thing but its not worth that much then it doesnt matter too much, and if something is worth a lot then study up for it.

Then again, you have till 30th March to drop out of the course without having to pay for it if you think you might fail it, so if you DO think so, drop out and start it again in second semester, if its offered.
