Freeview: Is it worth it? (1 Viewer)

With the anlogue signals being switched off from 2010-2013. Is their anything worth watching on the new digital channels. Will it host new shows or will it just be second-hand repeat channels? (ABC2, ABC3, 7TWO, GO!, ONE HD, SBS TWO)

digital TV is worth ir for 1HD alone...they show reruns of shos like hogans heros and stuff that í'd never seen b4 on Go so thats ok.

GO! makes digital TV totally worth it. Although those freeview boxes are a massive ripoff imo. If you have an older TV and can afford it, get a TV with a built in HDTV tuner or just get a decent set-top box. Freeview is a joke.

It is totally worth it. Just purchase a HD set top box from JB Hi-Fi. They are about a hundred bucks at the moment. GO, 7TWO, ABC2 and OneHD are totally worth it.

"Freeview" is dumb - the main purpose of which was to provide FreeTV Aust with an avenue to blackmail DVR makers into getting rid of ad skip buttons

The channels are good though, 7two has some of the old lifestyle shows and ABC2 has a good news breakfast plus some amateur docos that are pretty interesting (like one about aussies going to costa rica to open a cocktail bar)

Go just has American shit on it, 1hd is just sport

HD digital TV is worth switching to for the quality difference alone though

everyone so far has seemed to say that more channels = good, which is not necessarily right. Personally, the sports shown on One HD are not to my liking so could easily live without that channel.

Go has a lot of comedy. channel 9 wont dare replace two and a half men reruns with anything new (since the reruns still bring in huge numbers) so a lot of comedy gets shifted over to Go. 7two also has a lot of shows that 7 wont risk putting on regular TV so they just air them to the side. its great if you want to watch stuff like stargate, heroes, 24 and other shows.

so to make the right decision you would have to check out the tv guide itself and see if you like the range of shows that are on.

Definitely worth making the change. Go is great for comedy, as others have said, and One the same for sport. ABC2 and 7Two are preety good as well.
