Of course, I mean it'd be stupid if you didn't want to get an uber uber uber high UAI. But you shouldn't be one of those people who expect a UAI and be over-dissappointed that you didn't get it.
oh ok. Yea i stopped aiming for 99.55 because my aim was unrealistic.

Doesn't hurt to be realistic.

Well if they study a lot, they probably do have a good chance of getting over 90?

In that case you do care. What a contradictory statement.

The UAI is calculated in increments of 0.05, so it's impossible to attain a UAI of 99.99, unless you're aiming for e.g. 99.95 or 100.

Unless they change it in 2009.

Re: What UAI are you aiming for?

How many people get uais of 99.90? Cause getting that gets you a "Scientia Scholarship" which is 10k a year (up to 5 years) at UNSW. Course I'm not gonna get anywhere near that lol

Re: What UAI are you aiming for?

Technically you can get a UAI of 99.99, but you will never know because they round it to the nearest .05 so you'd get 100.

Re: What UAI are you aiming for?

Of course, it is easy to assume that every single person sitting the HSC in 2009 is going to aim for that magic number of 99+, the way their aims manifest is completely different, someone may not work at all ang get it, someone may try their best and do poorly. The HSC, in my view, rewards natural talent as much as it does consistent effort. I am aiming for a UAI of 85-95, all I need to do it get into arts at USYD, then I can transfer over to Arts/Law if I get distinctions in my first year.

I will not get 99+, but it would be nice. Someone mentioned earlier something about trying your hardest and knowing that you tried your hardest. That is one element with me, but if I tried my hardest and still failed, I wouldn't be happy at all. We are about to take the biggest journey of our lives so far, so if someone doesn't try their hardest, then it is a poor reflection of the system, which is designed to put the UAI on a pedestal, so everyone wants to get a really great one, even if they don't want to go to uni. That is my opinion, any thoughts?

Re: What UAI are you aiming for?

I'll be suprised if I get 90+...lol..I want to get into commerce and become a stockbroker.

right now....80+ isn't even realistic...

Eco 29/55
Physics 26/72
Chem 7/84
maths 62/115
ext1 42/61
eng103/149

I really need to dig my heels in this term...

already got 1 assessment task back.

I got 11/15 :( and I tried pretty hard for it. It was an economics RBA Essay.

Maybe I'm just naturally dumb.

Re: What UAI are you aiming for?

i'm aiming for 90+ hopefully that's a realistic goal..

subjects: physics(90-95), chem(85-92), business studies(80-95), english adv (60-80), 2u maths (85-90).

how realistic is my goal? the SAM seems to think i'll get it but i'm not sure how much to trust it's accuracy.

90+ seems like a realistic goal.

I'm not too sure with b0s either, it thinks I can get over 97, but I dont think I can. But seriously I think its too early to tell, it all depends how hard you work next year.
