Spinpoint F3 hasn't been in stock for a long time, and the F3 has faster seek times, the WD black has faster read/write times... overall the whole thing is un-noticeable and both are pretty much the same, they're mechanical hard drives, you wont really notice that much even if it is Sata2 or Sata3.

I wouldn't buy seagate, I dont trust them, my external HDD is clicking which is from seagate, but they might have improved so you can get it if you want, and it'll have warranty, just make sure you back up important stuff.

Yeah thanks for the info and advice. I'm just going to stick with the WD black. I mean it does have 5 years warranty after all. I recently bought a seagate External 2 TB HDD, it's been running fine, although I don't use it much, bought it mainly for back up purposes.

I'm going to use the corsair SSD as a primary drive - should speed up things hell of a lot.

Also getting the G.skill Ram modules now. I read that they are 1600MHz by default where as the kingston ones need to be set at 1600MHz otherwise they run at 1333MHz - eh same price.

If thats an i7 2600 and not a 2600k you'll only be able to overclock by changing the base clock rather than multiplier which will make your system fairly unstable for a marginal increase in performance.

Wow 16 GB RAM? What for?

I initially bought an 8GB kit but the week after I saw a shop which had the exact same RAM for a really good price so I bought another 8GB kit. But yeah, its probably a bit of an overkill, most of the time my RAM usage is around 20-25% even during stress testing and benchmarking it only goes upto like 35-38% usage.

yeah I figured, kind of wish I got the 2500k now, but I wanted Hyperthreading for stuff like video editing and some other design software.

I read the specs of the read/write speeds. The GT has an extra 5 MB per second advantage, that's about it. Hmmm is that worth an extra ~$30

I think it's not the raw speeds, it's the method which it uses to store

edit: overall, in real world use you wont really notice it that much, if you want to save just get the series 3, it's all normal stuff.

nah, it's a bit like high-tech lego. There's always plenty of guides on the internet (google/youtube,Tom's hardware etc) or manuals supplied by the manufacturer if you get stuck. but If you're a complete novice I would suggest a professional to do it, as you might cause more harm than good.

Yeah I guess it'd be best if I got someone else to do it lol.. wouldn't want to break anything.

I put a new graphics card + power supply in my PC earlier this year so hopefully that'd last me til the end of the HSC and then I wanna get a new one with like two screens and all that haha.

you should get an SSD, put your OS and programs you use often, and the games you play most (only those) on the SSD, rest throw it on the HDD, and yes you can access both easily.
