it is 2011 why are you buying a dvd drive

i don't understand why you need optical media in this day and age
Also not everyone has 24 Mbps internet download speeds. therefore optical media is the more logical choice when installing large volumes of data.

the farkk? 400 for a monitor, that's a lot. -.-
in a way the monitor is more important than any other component

think about how long a monitor lasts compared to a graphics card/cpu etc.

i upgrade my cpu/gpu every year or so, things like the case, speakers, monitor etc. tend to last MUCH longer

so i think you're better off investing in those parts, i have no qualms about buying a $500 monitor if i know it will last me ~5 years

---

also, the monitor is the only thing you'll be looking at when you use your computer, why skimp on it?

My new rig:

- Asrock z68 extreme 3
- Ripjaws 1600 mhz 8gb ram
- crucial 128gb ssd
- hitachi 500gb hdd
- silverstone strider 750w
- SLI gtx 560 ti
- i5 2500k
- coolermaster 212 evo
- samsung ODD
- thermaltake overseer case

- logitech g110
- logitech g400
- plantronics 367
- Benq 24 inch LCD montior

Total price is just above $2000 because of the expensive HDD these days.... It should last quite long :). Might consider getting the new generation cards if I can sell my current ones.

driving out to the video game store

vs.

one click to download
Don't be a lazy fu$k. Driving out to the store would take 15 min or so. + You can go do ur grocery shopping in the same trip if you wanted. Vs a download that may take over 10 hours.

I'm already spending 400 on the GPU, I think that will last me for 5 years+, considering I was able to last 3 years on my 9600M GT (which still runs today's games, but not at optimal settings).

I reckon a 1920*1080 is more than enough (atm I usually game at 1024*768 - 15" screen, 1280*800 for games that run smooth), esp when games have text, and the larger the res the smaller the text goes making it harder to read. e.g. cod4. my 19" monitor can handle 1440*900, but on a GT 220 it kinda sucks at that res.

proof...links?
it's much more recommended everywhere hence probably why it's more reliable

anyway... could anyone please recommend a good mobo with usb 3 headers for my haf x? i was initially going with the asrock extreme3 gen3 until i realised no usb 3 headers (only at the back) i also heard the extreme 4 has major usb 3 issues

also... 570 + SDD or 580 w/o SDD

if it helps... 8gb ram (2x4gb) with plans to sli + oc eventually

thanks for any help!
