does anyone know if we have to pass the tests to pass the course? i vaguely remember something like this being mentioned at the start of the year, but i really hope i'm wrong.

PHYS1121 was incredibly easier than previous years
ENGG1811 was damn awesome and its my top mark out of all others.
passed all at least thank god.
i took care of PHYS1121 now ive got CVEN1300 (Engineering Mechanics) which is physics all over again ...
ChemEng is looking very tempting and im enrolled in the flexible program so yea.

But Astrophysics, Nuclear Physics, Quantum mechanics, Electromagnetism look pretty awesome topics but I don't know when we will set up more nuclear reactors around Australia because out of the 4 I would be a Nuclear Physicist if I wanted to be a physicist.

I found #1 pretty gay, you develop much of the skills in around lab 3.
If you follow only the lectures on the content based on book #1 you should be fine, if you want to maximise your marks then you get the textbook and have a nice read and the Excel component only lasts 3 - 4 weeks so that's gay and #1 becomes useless eventually.
#2 was slightly better than #1, you should get it because the VB content in ENGG1811 relies a fair bit on that book.
At the end of the course you won't need a textbook.
Much of the shit you learn is through the lectures and labs.
If you are extremely povo and you can't afford ~$80 then don't bother.

Also they allow you to do 27UOC. and each Physics subject is 3uoc so you can kinda overload without killing yourself.
(Note Engineering/Science is 5years, Only one year extra to get a physics degree is pretty cool)

Needed anyway and costs $15.
Chemistry the Molecular Nature of Matter and Change 4e:
Electronic copy LOL (40MB).
SI Chemical Data 6E:
$35 and because it contains useful data I can look up straight away
ENGINEERING MATERIALS (VOL 1) 3E:
~$75, is it worth it?
How much did you rely on it?
my friends doing mats1101 this session for first time and didnt buy this and she says oohhhh not worth it!
oy but what did you use to help you complete your lab reports?
the sheet itself, textbook and internet?
but oy Omium you must be a pretty damn tough guy, I bet you named yourself after Osmium coz i saw in teh materials textbook that Osmium has a relatively huge density and modulus.
EDIT: OMG they changed lab 2 ... some stuff wont be similar but how you do it e.g. conditional formatting still applies.

lol i cant think of anything else to go further than 'warmer' to find the origin of your username.
after browsing your ENGG1811 forums secretly i found your session 2 labs are quite different, so the content is different but the technique of completing them is the same (coz you involved dice and we involved class roll but conditional formatting still applies).
we had 'Boyton' ... someone in my lab class last session just coloured in the rows without conditional formatting and the tutor didnt realise and gave him full marks.

edit: wow crosky lied. the materials book was 'useful' coz of the data they provide and my friend convinced me that you can find it easily on the internets, and here so do you.
