I must admit I'm not that much a fan of Robert Rowland's textbooks for Yr 11 and Year 12 Prelim and HSC but the 'Study On' book is ideal for exam preparation as they provide clear, concise notes and good preparation questions for students in preparation for trials.

My ranking of the HSC General Mathematics text books:

1. Oxford ( best for theory and understanding on concepts).
2. Excel HSC By Lyn Baker (in my opinion this is a highly underrated book- lots of practice questions which are of a similar standard to Exams and tests)
3. Cambridge
4. New Century
5. Maths Quest (not the biggest fan of Robert Rowland's text- not a fan of the layout of the book)

Note that all the above posts are about GENERAL maths.
With the change to Standard Maths, textbooks have changed. Eg New Century Maths has been re-done with new authors I believe. While I haven't used the new NCM, I'm a fan of the 7-10 textbooks by the same authors.

I'm using the cambridge textbook for standard maths (prelim) atm, and finding it to be extremely good. HEAPS of questions, and graded (level 1, level 2 and level 3). your teacher may be able to obtain worked solutions for it too, which is also immensely useful.
