Hi all,
I would like to ask some questions about engineering at UNSW.

1. How many electives can I choose in the first year?
2. Do you have a great chance that you get employed for your desired field from some specialised degrees (like biomedical ,aerospace, mechatronics, etc)?
3. Can I apply for CO-OP Program in 2nd year of engineering?

Thanks for reading and your reply.

1. Depends on your degree, usually ~2/3 I think. Check the online coursebook.
2. It really depends on the individual. When it comes to employment opportunities I don't think the uni makes a huge difference...but then I am only a first year, don't take my word for it.
3. As for Coop, I am pretty sure you can apply in 2nd year, if current scholars drop out.

1. UNSW Faculty of Engineering - Electives - those are the electives u can choose from in second semester of first year engineering, but look up your course in the handbook and choose the recommended ones, they're usually related to second year.

2. the way i see it, specialised degrees limit you to a particular area of engineering, whereas somehting a tad more generalised opens you up to more opportunities.
eg aerospace limits you to working in aerospace fields, whereas mechanical can get you into mechanical, aerospace, and many other fields of work.

3. idk.
