I already did this question earlier in the thread "I did a limiting sum, so Pat can win on his 1st, 2nd 3rd,... role. 1/36 + (35/36)^2(1/36) + (35/36)^4(1/36) + .... Factorise 1/36 out and you should get 1/36{1 + (35/36)^2 + (35/36)^4 +....). Sum to infinity, 1/36{1/(1-(35/36)^2)} = 36/71."

Guys can we perhaps divert our attention away from fucking pat and his dice, and focus on the trout and carp? Did anyone get it out?

I had a weird stroke of genius, and made pat's winnings a geometric series:
(1/36) + (1/36)^2 + (1/36)^3

Then just applied the limiting sum, and i got 1/35 I think.
Don't think that's right, it doesn't take into account the other player's chance of winning before he wins.

I think the right answer might be the limiting sum of (1/36)^2 subbed in as a power of 1/36

And i spent too much time on the r question. Also couldn't do the stupid fish question at all. Fml

my timing also sucked :(
question fourteen was terrible:(.

Guys I feel okay now that i know you all found it hard, at least it will scale up. I was expecting it to be of medium difficulty and judging from q11 i expected it to be challenging but doable. Aiming for above 80. Time was my biggest issue too. Too god damned long and tedious.

Does anybody know how to do question 16c) part two? Help would be greatly appreciated
In case no one has provided solution to 16(c):

Easy to show triangles AXY and ABC are similar.

Similarly for triangles BXY and BAD

.: XY/BC = AX/AB

.: XY/AD = BX/AB

.: XY/AD + XY/BC = BX/AB + AX/AB = (AX + BX)/AB = AB/AB = 1

.: Dividing throughout by XY:

1/XY = 1/AD + 1/BC

Honestly, that exam was easy as hell :p Worst case scenario should still be 90+ raw, mostly sillies -.-

Does anyone have a solution for that last question?

I found it too hard. I spent a lot of time on maths and in past papers I would get an average of 75-80. Today I think I'll be lucky if I passed.
