Re: Science SC

The answer is acceleration to the other question. well...that's what it says in our science notes lol. "Acceleration is the change in speed and/or direction of an object." ..... Isn't displacement the change in direction, distance or movement of an object?
That question was funky; I put acceleration but it doesn't relate to direction much, and a change in speed could be deceleration as well... it confused everyone I talked to

since when are earthquakes currents? Its convection
Dammit. I just guessed. I had convection at the tip of my tongue :( I knew there was a word.
Actually, I think that other answer has to be acceleration.
Temperature? Sweet, I put that :)

Re: Science SC

Acceleration is just a change in velocity, which is speed with a direction, right?
I wasn't sure if I was right on that one.

Re: Science SC

Piss easy SC science test...probably the easiest out of all the years. the only question i think i got wrong is that question where it said the nucleus is radioactive, what will it release, i said nuclear radiation, others say it was protons and neutrons..meh. Easy band 6.

i put acceleration as well, though deceleration is also the change in speed and direction of an object. Displacement isnt necessarily change in speed, only when it is graphed, and even then it can only be average change in speed.

Re: Science SC

It IS conical flask. Just flask by itself would be incorrect if there was only 1 correct answer.

Re: Science SC

I think that they would be flexible with some of these. Flask or conical flask should be correct. If anything, 'conical flask' is more correct.

Do they get machine to check the answers? Also, is it Velocity for that speed question?

Re: Science SC

i put conical flask. i didn't think flask would be specific enough...
cs01001, im pretty sure it's displacement, but ill check my textbooks for you.

Re: Science SC

Err, I'm no physics junkie but doesn't acceleration better describe the CHANGE of an object's speed/direction. Whereas velocity just = direction/speed?

I was so tempted to put 'Ya Mum'' in one of the boxes just to make a marker cringe. Oh, and I changed Board of Studies to Bored of Studies on every single page..HAIL!

Thanks! So far I have heard people putting displacement, velocity, momentum, accerleration etc, so confusing, lol. Anyone expecting a Band 6 for science? I would be uber happy if i get a band 5 :)

Everyone gonna study for Geo/History and Maths?

Re: Science SC

Geo - FAAAAAAAAAAAARK NO
History - Yes, cause you can't' "make up" dates.
Maths - You can't make any significant difference in one night of study. Read the question properly, use your brain. That's as far as our powers extend.

Yes, but it's a text recognition system. It might accept any answer with 'flask' in it.

Re: Science SC

Distance is the length of path travelled by an object.
It is a scalar with only a magnitude(value).
unit: m

Displacement is the change in position of a moving object.
It is a vector with a magnitude and direction.
unit :m

Velocity = change in displacement / time taken
Like displacement, velocity is a vector with both magnitude and direction
Unit : m/s-1

Acceleration is also a vector with also magnitude and direction.
Unit : m/s-2

to me it seems like it's between velocity and acceleration, but my brain is tired and ive forgotten the question. sorry if this was absolutely no help lol.

Mmm.. This was harder than expected, I thought the short response were fairly easy though. Some of my answers that I can remember (in no particular order):
ENERGY (What's carried in the wave of a tsunami that is the same as all waves)
FLASK (object 'o')
EARTHQUAKE (that one about plate movement)
OVARY (egg question)
ACCELERATION (object changing speed)
3.5 (millimetres)

Can anyone remember more answers, see if we can work out our mark out of 10 for this section?
That sounds similar to what I got except Earthquake was Convection I think. I guess we shall see in a couple of weeks :).

PS. I put Conical Flask but both answers will probably be accepted.
