General thoughts on the Drama exam? The first question took me by surprise and I'm fairly sure it was answered differently to how they wanted but the second section wasn't so bad I thought.

What do you guys think?

The first question threw me too! I didnt know if you were spose to refer to the picture regulary or just use it as a guideline...So i just basically ignored it except for my conclusion and intro and the ends of paragraphs haha I like the verbatim question though, it fited really well with what I looked at and I wrote a lot over all so im happy :)

The first question threw me off! There's never been one like that before :( Which really sucked.
The Verbatim one was alright but I wasn't a big fan of it!
I struggled for time to get all my ideas down :(

I think I will do alright but =/

The first question you just had to be prepared to be a little creative and stray away from your prepared essay.

Q6 (approaches to acting) took a bit to make the whole "connection between mind and body" sound meaningful haha.

overall should do okay... i hope.

Section one threw me too, It was soo not what I had prepared for, but yeah basically just used the words mentioned in the question throughout my usual generic essay and with a few tweaks it was answering the question but yeah I doubt I did it how they wanted it haha. Section two Verbatim was good, although it felt a bit module B englishy to me.

For section 1, i was completely stoked! So what my approach was to discuss my class experience and say that if the same techniques were applied than the ideas would be effectively conveyed on this stage. I made no reference to the actual stage structure or design because it totally had no influence on the ideas in my plays (Ruby Moon and Stolen). Black comedy was very straight forward and predictable. Only problem was time. Feel sorry for the person marking my essays. My conclusion is completely hyroglific.

I was shocked too!! it was so vague and subjective. I made like no reference to the actual stage on the image- lol, all i did was "by using the techniques in classroom examples on this stage, the ideas and images of whatever will be effectively conveyed". And I wish I had time for the second one too, had to cut down a lot in workshop examples.

The first question i wasn't a fan of at all. Didn't realise something like that was a possibility so i got thrown off but doubtful i answered it how they want haha.
Questions 2 was okay and hope that's where i recover marks.

So for question one did everyone basically do that
Blah Blah Blah this Idea as seen through this Image uses this technique to be theatrically engaging within a theatre space ( such as the one in the picture)

I have heard a lot of complaints about that question from my classmates and apparently there was a local media story about it (though that is unconfirmed at this point). In all truth though I didn't think it was as difficult as everyone made it out to be.
The question was essentially asking for staging. I personally discussed stage design, characterisation and dramatic themes and conventions I would use. To me at the very least, the question asked you to think as a director and share what you would do to put the plays on stage.

though the irish one was annoying untill I realised it was a discuss so I could disagree with it. that made it infinitely more easy to address.
