by the way, any one from IT here who has done programming fundamentals before? was the final exam really that tough as they constantly are saying?
It's not as tough as they make out to be, I didn't study for it (only needed 4 mc to pass) and still passed the final exam, I don't know if you must get more than 50% in the final to pass but with a little revision you should be fine, there's alot of questions on syntax and they may ask you what are the classes, objects, procedures etc. Just study the way various syntax is written such as loops and booleans and all that.

Huratio,

I much prefer macroeconomics to microeconomics. However, I dont know why I didnt do as well in EFB as I did well in Economics in the HSC.

HSC Eco was heavily Macro based which may explain the difference.

Anyway, where is malfoy these days?

Well, you need to get 40% in the final exam, and the lecturer, Suresh keeps saying that it will be difficult and we will hgave to analyze a lot of code and shit.

Got 16 /20 in first assignment. Pretty sure that I'll go to final exam with 44 marks. Again, need 40% in the exam otherwise FAIL!

I must be the opposite- didn't do too well in HSC Economics, but ended up with a HD for EFB =)

Any special chapters that you consider more important than others for the final exam?

Chris should give you some hints in the last lecture, otherwise if you cannot wait, check out my post in the EFB thread which has a sample final exam paper:

Re: The UTS 'Get Naked and Secks' Thread

Is anyone planning on doing any Summer Session subjects?

I am thinking of doing 1 Law elective..... either Biomedical Law and Bioethics or Intellectual Property; so I can work a bit more in the second semester next year.

goan crazy..... did you attend the PLT Info Session? From what I have heard, you do Civil Litigation, Ethics and the other PLT subject ONLINE. If you went what was your impression of the info session and was there any important info?

Yeah, I'm planning on doing 1 subject too.
Probably Financial Statement Analysis (part of the accounting major).

I think anything to make my last year of uni (next year) more relaxing would be awesome. Also, I could work more than my current one day a week too.

Biomedical Law only runs for 5 days (8 hrs per day).

The best thing about Summer School is that it allows you to do the same material in a short time frame.

There is another one that I was considering called Intellectual Property Commercialisation but I really want to save my last law elective for SPORTS LAW.

Its a shame they dont run any of the later year core subjects in summer. It would have been good to knock over Admin, Corp Law, Evidence, Civil Litigation or Ethics.

How is your Summer School subject structured Huratio?

One more question Huratio.

A friend of mine's sister is thinking of doing Accounting for Business during Summer.

To be honest, her maths would be 2U General Maths. I know people can do that and get by but will UTS run some extra tutoring services (ie your tutoring classes).

Or do you recommend she just waits until Autumn 2009.

Thanks

BTW your helpful coffee hints are much appreciated.

Looking at the timetable from last year (summer timetables won't be uploaded until Monday 20th Oct), it looks like FSA is 6 days (7 hours per day). Sounds hectic to me, although I only plan to do one subject, so that is all that I will have in my mind. I just talked to my boss last week, and he is more than happy for me to do summer and also do work around it too.

Not quite sure about the Law offerings, but sometimes the subjects offered in spring can change from year to year. Best bet is to wait until monday and see what is on offer.

I don't think maths classes will run during summer, and I don't think PASS will run in summer either. If she thinks that she may have trouble with coping in A4B, I would wait until next semester when all support classes would be running. I didn't really think A4B required alot of maths- other than add, subtract, multiply or divide; but yeah- support classes such as PASS and maths definately help.

Lavazza @ Central (the sandwich shop on your left when you are walking from the station to UTS (through the devonshire st tunnel) is no longer there. I'm not quite sure what they are doing with that place anymore..

I should update the 'Places to Eat + Things to Do' Thread about the places I've been too recently..

Yeah, Financial Statement Analysis is there.

The Taxation Law timetable looks way better than FSA though.
Not sure if I could concentrate for 7hrs, for three straight days (twice).

Huratio,

When do Summer Session applications open?

goan_crazy.....
Are you going to the Law Electives Fair on Thursday? I reckon it might be worth a look. I've done Labour Law, be doing Biomedical Law in the Summer and I know I will do Sports Law but it might be worth a look.

How did you go in Equity?

I would assume this is the same for all other faculties:

When do I lodge my application?
1st round - 28th Oct (10.00am) to 7th Nov 2008 (5.00pm)
2nd round - 25th Nov (10.00am) to 27th Nov 2008 (5.00pm)
3rd round – 19th Dec (10.00am) to 22nd Nov 2008 (12.00pm)
