The point is you are still here, as ai pointed out before, becasue you dont buck the system and when you do delete things its not controversial, its conservative and designed not the enrage anyone. Just as flyin suggested. That is the key to being a successful mod.
I delete things I see fit to delete
The key to being a successful mod is to make executive decisions that are not harsh, unjust or unreasonable, but reasonable in the context of the situation..as a lawyer, you should know dude.

I would have to say, finding a balance is imperative. In that sense, as a moderator one should take action, however one should also consider the consequences. A warning may sometimes suffice, or in other cases banning, or even in other cases calling in the auxiliary. It's not say that positive action shouldn't be taken, however. But the form of positive action may vary to have greater effect.

"So it seems the best way to keep your mod job is not to take extensive positive action." [Asq] I agree with statement to some extent. Extensive positive action is only taken when it's called upon. And it's always your call.

"The key to being a successful mod is to make executive decisions that are not harsh, unjust or unreasonable, but reasonable in the context of the situation" [Minai] I don't think it necessary that decisions are not harsh, unjust or unreasonable, so long as they accomplish what needs to be done - removing spam, sending a warning (not necessarily a PM), etc.

Well lets put it into perspective, at least you had the oppurtunity to become a mod, and furthermore gain a reputation, albeit infamous to some, but despite that you have become a mod. :)

I have tried 4-5 times now and frankly i dont see it happening :p

I was actually infamous, before I became unknown (to the general public). Anyway, the mods aren't against Asq, we're just clarifying, as best we can, as to how things went wrong for Asq. :p

What happened exactly anyway? One day he was NS mod, next he wasn't. I'm confused. :(

if i can remember minai kept accusing you of being a spammer :p
Here's the thing, without the like of myself (back then), Minai probably wouldn't have achieved Mod status as early as he did. :p I spam modland now. :D

I was a bit proactive in modding. Deleting bad threads as soon as they came up. I really should have locked them so i had evidence. Locking threads and deleting them got blamed on different mods when they were really the actions of other mods. As a result certian mods came under the attack for things that were not their actions. Others mods distanced themselves.

I dont think i went too wrong. I deleted threads when i should have locked them and told lexi to lock personal attack threads against me (cant lock these threads myself)....in fact cant lock these threads at all without being bombarded with more personal acctacks.

No win situation. Best way to survive was to have taken 2 weeks off believed laz's promise of full support against personal attacks and come back later.
You had a following (of the wrong kind) which meant that your time as a mod would've been difficult regardless. So I guess, it wasn't as much to do with how you dealt with the situation but the unfortunate circumstances you found yourself in.

Very true, however the reason I like this board is the same as why I wouldn't mod it.

It's every man for himself. If you don't stand up for yourself no one will. And there's always someone ready to bitch to hell about you. As fun as it is to post in, modding it would be hard.

Yeah, well if I had a choice I'd take Eng Ext 2. That forum would be easy to mod. :p

haha, yeah one of my applications was for that, although now i see it, theres not really any need to have a specified mod, since anti did it and is doing a fine job

ee1 though would be good to have separate specialised mods

The English Ext 1 forum is depressing though. Everyone in there is so much smarter than me. :p
