There should be something like wallstreetoasis here where ppl post up first yr figures for each IB.

Trust me, if you're doing it only for the pay, you're in for a miserable time.

The pay is good, but you have to put up with a lot of shit for it.

um i get my information from my investment banker friends. in fact i just hung out with them this weekend.

of course, without generalising... some groups work hard
but by and large all groups at other banks work hard

and really i dont need to tell you where i get my info. dont believe me if you think you're right

but im sure NO ONE would do it if the money wasnt there

I second geetarjoe. High end of Macq 2007-8 pay was comparable to high end of other firms. Obviously some areas of Macq pay lower (I think IBF is below banking, but it's not banking obviously) but generally comparable.

And analyst bonuses are $$$ (although small deferral at junior levels), not options.

total comp for GS came out yesterday. The monkey's in IBD are very pissed off. If it wasn't worth working in IBD last year, it is an absolute joke this year.
