It's Google's solution to Facebook and Twitter.

Most of my friends don't use gmail, so I wont be using it, I think far too many networking sites exist.
Although the feature that allows you to leave notes on maps is cool, but stolen from the game demon's souls. Also tracking any friends who are within your location is cool.
