i) by solving the equation z^3+1=0, find the three cube roots of -1

ii) let @ be a cube root of -1, where @ is not real. show that
@^2 = @-1

iii) hence simplify (1-@)^6 <----dunno understand this part

lol! Just go to the 4u forum, and read the stickied thread entitled:
"notation"

Quite often it is very easy to do just about everything just by typing. :)

hmm, we should request laz that he put up all wierd and exotic mathematical symbols where the smilies are. thats an idea... lets think about it. Maybe its possible. Don't see why not, we can make an emoticon sized mathematical symbol, and thats it!

well, you buy yourself a set of watercolour paints, and a few brushes. Then you paint up the solution to problems, use your digicam to take a picture, and then post. d'oh ;)
hehe

I think using word is even easier, with the equation editor.

Oh, I thought you were joking. Yeah, that's what I use. It's a bit longer, but it looks alot better than dogily scanned images.

It can be used effectively. You can draw diagrams and use text as well. So for a free solution to writing answers on the computer, think of our old friend "Paint.exe"
