Just for some background I study a software engineering and commerce degree.

I just calculated my current GPA, on a 4.0 scale is 2.5, 7.0 scale is 5.5.
Yet my WAM is 74......... Almost D average

See something wrong here??

Its because I got alot of subjects that are just border-line. a quarter of them are 1 or 2 marks away from the next D or HD. :/

Employers in australia don't really use GPA do they?? The resumes I searched for on the net all features GPAs. which is calculated based on following.
Grade: H
Grade point: 4.0

Distinction
Grade: D
Grade point: 3.0

Credit
Grade: C
Grade point: 2.0

Pass
Grade: P
Grade point: 1.0
There's a 50% difference between C and D.... yet in WAM terms it could just be a single mark.
:(

i thought if the GPA is out of 4,

then HD and D are both worth 4.

a CR is worth a 3 and

a pass is worth a 2.

thats how macquarie works it out

Macquarie University - Undergraduate Studies

P.S like it or not most of the large emplyers do require you to have at least a Cr average. GPA of >3 or >5 (whatever system your uni uses), its part of the culling process. even then you should really be aiming for a DN average, coz really there are so many people out there for the few good jobs going around.

there are cases of people who do get a look in even without a Cr average though, however those people usually are good looking and are pleasent on the eye for the managers, partners to perve on all day
