Hey,
SoFTuaRiaL - in regards to the 60% thing - that is irrelevant at UC and ANU.

At UC if you get a PX - there is nothing you can do to improve it. At ANU you can take a supplementary exam..

At the moment I am on 7 - A LOT OF HARD WORK last semester but I guarantee it wont be 7 this semester - it was insane the work i put in last semester. I only done 3 subjects as my cadetship program didn't allow it - but the uni still classified it as full time.

What does a WAM mean ; whats the difference with that and a GPA?

WAM is your weighted average mark.

So for example:

if you were to get marks of 95, 86 and 76 (ranks HD, HD, D respectively) for three subjects all worth 6 credit points, then:

Your WAM would be (95*6+86*6+76*6)/(6+6+6) = 85.66666...

Your GPA would be (7*6+6*6+6*6)/(6+6+6) = 6.33333....

Essentially your WAM takes your percentage for each subject then takes the average of those, weighting by the proportion of your workload assigned to that subject.

Which program? I'd really like to learn how to animate...

yeah it does, the highest for my course at uts (architecture) was not much more than 6.0

it's silly to compare your marks with other people in other courses (which is what the gpa is supposed to try and do, i think) cos yeah, everything's so different too many factors etc etc

hey... i'm still not sure I get the GPA and WAM..

are they both cumulative as you progress through your degree? Or is only GPA cumulative?..

Which is the most important?

your WAM is cumulative as u progress, but u still see your "semester WAM" too on your academic statement
I think GPA would be cumulative as well, but at UNSW, that isnt on our academic statement
