My school's considering offering graphics calculators for rent and/or subsidising them and I was just wondering if it's really worth getting one? Is it noticeably easier and faster to do exams with one or is it not worth it?

Yeah, I have a Texas Instruments TI-83, it really helps when sketching those really complex curves such as y=3x+2. Also, it's called a "graphing calculator", not a "graphics calculator".

Thanks :)

Apologies for using the wrong word - but at least you got my drift.

You don't need one. You can't use them in exams. Just download graphmatica or geogebra.

You shouldn't get one, unless you really are struggling with graphing whatever you graph in General Maths :S

Yeah graphing x=0 was a tough one. Couldn't had done without one in my last assessment.
