guidelines on moving into an apartment (1 Viewer)

well im sure we have some people here who live on their own, live with their friends or still living with their parents but are planin on moving out ( eg me )..

I'm plannin on moving out but first thing first I need to be finanically stable...

I'm workin on that i've got a job well 2 xD and i recieve centerlink ontop xD..
but i know this is going to change when i start uni say next year...

can i get some heads up or tips or simple steps in moving out..
any tips will be great so feel free...

Start looking at ads for places to rent, attend the open days and then they will give you application forms to fill out. You'll need references (past flatmates, managers at work or even your parents I guess). If successful, the real estate agency will call you up to come and sign the lease.

Be aware that it is a big financial burden, especially if you are still studying - you don't want to work so much that you sacrifice your study.

It will cost far more than you thought and if you sharehouse you will meet many interesting people. I highly recommend moving out because it forces you to grow up.

Costs to consider:
-Rent, dah...
-Groceries, dah...
-Hiring a moving truck
-Getting all the utilities connected
-Do you need/want high speed interent?
-Do you want Foxtel?
-What furniture/appliances do you have/need? (Bed, Desk, Wardrobe (if no built in), Office Chair, Lamps, Bookshelf, Couchs, TV unit, TV, Fridge, Washer, Dryer, Microwave, Toaster, Blender, etc)
-Kitchen utensils/equipment? (Cutlery, fry pan, saucepans, wok, crockery, etc)

while on the subject of services, does anyone know whats the best place to get:
1. electricity connected to a unit (cheapest) - i heard origin is good??
2. internet (best deal) - dont relli download much, visit lotsa sites, some streaming
3. phone (best deal)
i heard optus have a good internet+ph package

1. Isn't really that much difference. Besides, electricity should be connected anyway if you're renting. :/
2. Naked plans - Don't need a landline so no need to waste >$30/month on having a phone.
3. Use your mobile for calls.

yeah was thinking of iinet naked dsl. but wasnt sure if that is better or worse than tpg?
has anyone been with either or both these providers?
