I never stick to study timetables.
Personally, I think you're better off making a list of all the different things in each subject that you want to get done, and just crossing them off as you go.

i agree. Find out your weak points in each subject and target them first.

Tamaranadine!! your study time table IS quite intense :p But I'm glad you're coping and not stressing etc. (though I'm sure you're reeping the rewards of working so hard :) )

My study time table largley depends on how ill i am. If it's an ill day, I retire to bed earlier if not..

4:30 am - i rise nad shine and exercise :)

5:30 - 6:30 - cello practice + shower + breakfast + wake up my brother

6:30 - leave for school

7:15 - arrive, study until 8:30

school..

4:30 pm - 7:30 pm study

7:30 - 8:30 - dinner and read the news

8:30 - 11 - study

11 + charity work

SLEEP

but sometimes charity work misses out if I'm tired.

Hehe!! No :) Of course not!! I practice at the other end of the house.. all the doors closed on the way ;)

I practice in the morning because my parents want me to study in the evening.

These study timetables are just when exams are close right ?
Coz if they were year round, i'd say you need more shit then just school/study/ etc. Its not healthy. Go socialise, go do some exercise, go play some team sport. Jeez 5+ Hours of studying a day is stupid.

If you need 5+ hours to revise/understand the concepts at school. Thats practically the amount of time you spend at school.

Either A. You have the shittest memory on earth and theres no point revising coz you'll just forget. You should just cram for 24hours without sleepig before the exam.

B. You need excessivly large amounts of time to grasp concepts.

Sorry if i'm being mean, but seriously, sure study is important but excess amounts of studying reduces its effectiveness.

The world doesn't stop because you have you HSC. Learn to manage time, and study effectively, and live your fuckin life.

If you're studying for 5 hours a day in year 11, how much do you expect to study in year 12? I am very cautious as to not completely burn out before the hard work begins in year 12, so I keep my studying in perspective of how much I will be studying in year 12.

ahhh dude.....calm the fu*k down, ppl study extended periods of time because they wanna get some where in life (not the average job), what about ppl who do medicine? u think they study less than 5 hours? hahhahaha, must b kiddin, or what about the ppl who get 100uai? or evn 98?
Some ppl dun want an average life, some ppl hav goals that they wanna achieve, and studying is one way of achieving it

Obviously i wasn't being serious.

Do you think all people who get 98 uai+ study 5+ hours throughout the year during prelims. The fact is, they don't. The dux of my school, which for your information is actually an academically good school, doesn't study that much at all. I've had her play dota with me on some occasions.

What i'm trying to say is:
5+ hours a day, throughout the year, during year 11 to get a good UAI is bullshit. Pure bullshit. That is not the norm. Guys don't stress out if your not studying anywhere near that amount, because frankly, you can still ace the hsc.

If you have to study 5 hours a day outside of school just to become a doctor. What makes you think you can become a good doctor? Are you going to revise your work for 5 hours a day when your a doctor too? This may sound a bit elitist, but i rather have someone thats naturally smart as my doctor.

Why do you think top tier law firms and accounting firms, look for WELL ROUNDED students, that participate in a range of extra curricular activities?
It's the same for those giving out scholarships.

5 hours a day is completely excessive. For you to get a 98+ UAI, you might have to study that much, but for most people thats not true.

Studying that hard might get you through your exams, but its certainly not going to get you anywhere much in life.

I agree with Undalay.

You need to balance your life and not just study five hours a day. It's honestly not healthy if you study this excessive amount. The recommended time is about 2-3 hours, and that means doing homework and revising a bit.

Honestly, you're going to burn out if you study too much. The most successful students of the HSC are:

- well rounded, meaning that they don't just study, and they actually get out! They do stuff! They play sport! They attend cultural activities! They go to the drive in! I know some Rusers who work at Maccas! They're awesome!

Try to have some fun. Study's not everything. Just because you get 99.95 UAI does not guarantee you a spot in medicine, and maybe not even law in the future. People need well-roundede people.

For those who keep saying you dont NEED to study that hard.

I want a UAI of 99.95. I want a scholarship. I want to be able to leave home after my HSC and not have to worry about HEX. I want to make my parents proud. I want to make my teachers proud. I want to know I've given everything to achieve.

That does not mean I dont do extra curricular stuff. I do:
- sing in two choirs
- play the cello
- part of an orchestra
- hockey
- tennis
- work with World Vision
- work with BDCF
- run charity group at school (was secretary of another)
- SRC
- work iwth Make Indigenous Poverty History
- work with Oaktree Foundation (writing newsletter, schools team, conference coordinator)
- part of Model UN

etc etc

It's called organisation. It's called being passionate about more htan one thing and so altering your life so that you CAN lead a balanced life without compromising one area.

Please, let people study, learn and prioritise in the way they see fit. They know what they want and need, you dont. I'm not trying to be rude (truly) but perhaps right now study and accedemic success IS the most important thing. Perhaps not. But it's a personal choice.

oh wow, you really got alot on your plate there & i thought my life was busy ! ><"

But i totally agree, its personal choice and I believe people have no right to criticise other peoples ways of how they do things. Do things the way you want to.
