Yeah I do, but if u take a look at the 1998 3U HSC paper, there is a investment question. I freaked out, and realized that they can ask you one. So I'm just wonderin who feels the same as me?

Yeah i reckon i'm really good at thoes questions; i find series really easy (esp when minai's mum is doing this:  ) . but seriously, remember ur formulas.

latus rectum=4a

with a being the focal length ie the a in x^2=4ay

focal length = distance between directrix and vertex

You're all crazy. They are the hardest part of 2,3 and 4U Maths. If you can do them, you will be able to do 4U math. :p

It's just using the stuff you've learnt in sequences and series in a real life situation dude.
It takes some time to show all the working, assuming u don't follow the general formula some ppl use for time payments (which doesnt work for all cases).
But if ya do some practise, should b fine!

Yeah, I'm slowly getting used to it. But its just so complicating, when does the year end, how many years is he actually investing for...aahh!! Oh well. Gotta live with it.

lol, i did a couple of hours of that, i finally get the hang of it

btw a question such as this: "find each loan payment per quarter, at 15% interest per month, but there's nothing to pay for 3 months"
would that be a 3U question? or is that still part of 2U?

Its much easier to say it, than actually do it. There had better be no questions like that in the 3U HSC paper.

ok its easy...now, explain how to do it properly!
I remember my teacher saying that u had to take away 3 months (lets say it was 6 yrs) so thats 23 quarters...but, u still need to calculate interest for the full 24 quarters..

Well they wont be in the 3 unit trial because their hardly ever in there............havent seen one past paper that had them
every 2 unit paper has them but their piss easy in there
99% of the time they dont test the same stuff in BOTH 2 unit and 3 unit

i kno the 2U was are alrite, coz its repetitious once u get the hang of it, but the 3U ones throw in other factors that confuse the hell outta me

Exactly, that makes it so hard. And the writer thinks that it's 2U therefore it should go in question 2/3 of the 3U paper. Therefore, 3U students think it's 'relatively' easy, and try and do it. Wasting precious time. But if they just put it in Question 7, then we know that it is very hard, and virtuall impossible to do. Stoopid teachers
