What is rectangular form?

E.g. Express 5cisπ in rectangular form.

Also, when it says express things in polar form is that just another word for mod-arg form?

AND, lastly.. when finding the argument, and not getting a nice number not an exact value for tan inverse, do you present the mod-arg form with the tan inverse or do you give a numerical approximation?

THANK YOU!

Did you mean (-5,0) ?

Rectangular form is the co-ordinate system you know ie: (x,y,z) etc. Also known as the Cartesian co-ordinate system.

Polar form is what Spiral said (r, theta), which is actually a 2-Dimensional version of either the Cylindrical Co-ordinate system (where z=0) or the Spherical Co-ordinate system (where the azimuth, denoted by phi, is equal to pi/2)

Actually, I suppose the azimuth could be anything between 0 and pi provided we extend the radius rho a bit further and take the projection onto the (x,y) plane...

so when the question asks for rectangular FORM.. is that just x + iy form?
so you don't give your answer as (-5,0) but rather -5 + 0i?
