Well I plan to drop the subject Software Design and Development because i dont want to risk getting a bad UAI (our teacher told us that nobody in the school got a higher than band 5 and the average was band 3).

Does anyone here who does Software design and development think i should drop this subject? (even if you dont do SDD please feel free to voice your own opinion) If so what are some good subjects which are easy but scores well to my UAI????????

btw i need at least a uai of 75 to get into the course i want but im aiming for high 90's

Well you're going to have to put in the effort in every field, no matter how easy you perceive the subject to be. I can see that your school's background in this particular subject may not be 'satisfying', but the results of other people generally shouldn't affect you. If you work hard and strive to achieve your best, then the fact that no one in the school got higher than a band 5, or that the average was band 3, would be irrelevant once you achieve the marks. But, I guess you have to make a judgement based upon your performances, results and personal interests in this subject.

You mean no one got a band higher than 4 or higher than 5? And was this last year? If it was, the grade was probably stupid. But in the past, there must've been some people who would've got in the 90's for SDD at your school.

If people got band 5's, then that's pretty reasonable, I guess. But it's entirely up to your perfomance. If you enjoy the subject, you work extra hard with SDD, and you do well in it, then why don't you stand a chance of getting in the band 6's? Don't just rely on scaling saying that 'Oh, SDD scales badly, not going to do it'. If you score really well you'll be fine ;). I don't do SDD and I've just voiced my own opinion. But if you perform really well in that subject, and you continue to enjoy it, then try it. It won't affect your UAI nor scale you down if you score well above the mean of the state.

I think the best advice you'll get will be from your principal or your year advisor. Talk to them, or even the head faculty of the subject and see what opinions they have on dropping it or not. Good luck.

Not across all but Software Design and development only.

We had an accelerated class of 15 (each year has it actually) as the school realises some kids are pretty good with computers and knowing stuff about them. Anyone interested in the class put it as their elective etc. and you did a test...blah blah blah.
Long story cut short we had 10 decide on SDD and 5 decide on IPT for year 11 and 12 (accelerated by one year). 4 out of 5 in IPT got band 6 (one was third in state) and about 4 out of 10 got a band 6 with the others getting band 5s (didn't hear of any and 4s).

IPT was tbh easy, i got 91 and I probably coudl have done more study (read 1 hour per night since the term 3->term 4 holidays, including a few hours each day in the second week), but I'm happy.

SDD was apparently harder, everyone was saying I was idiot for picking IPT (they said SDD was heaps of fun) up until the HSC course started.

If your school offers it, IPT may be the way to go?

I already do Information Process and Technology.

I only have till Wednesday to change but i dont know what to?

Im thinking of changing it to business studies due to it scales higher.

At the moment these are the subjects Im currently doing:

Advanced English
Chemistry
Economics
Mathematics
Information Process and Technology
Software Design and Development

Business Studies doesn't necessarily scale higher. It also depends on what you like and what you are good at. My school isn't a very high ranking school however our Year 12 SDD class last year got all band 5s and band 6s so it is possible.
