Hi guys,

Basically i got a speech coming up and i am absolutely lost at what to do? Here's the "question"

"Book week is coming up! You are asked to feature the novel you have been studying for a display in your school library. Explain to the Book committee why this novel should be featured. You must discuss:
  • The literary merit of the text
  • The values/ideas the text explores
  • The suitability of the text for young adults
You should examine characters, themes, actions and events."

I'm doing Lord of the Flies.
I just need help on how to start off the speech as it should be persuasive and "catch" the audience. I suck at that.
Thanks in advance:)

The text is one which has been referenced and parodied throughout modern society. Try and find some examples of that and you've got an easy starting point. I know the simpsons parody it (I think the episode is Das Bus)

Otherwise, a quote from the text is an easy way to start a speech.
