Help: Human Story Neanderthal (1 Viewer)

Help i have an assessment task due and it wants to know whether Homo erectus or Homo sapien was more closly related Neanderthals.
I thought that Neanderthals were more closly related to Homo sapiens but i have been reading up on it and most of the readings just sit on the fence and wont go one way or another or are religious and don't really talk about the subject.
(I don't want to offend anybody who is religious)
So can anybody help me please.

ehm i'd probably agree with you.. neanderthals are extinct side braches next to humans

well the more recent beleif is that homosapiens are on a different branch to H. neandathalensis.. this is due to more recent genetic evidence as well as anaylsis of their respective cultural aspects...
one of the more commonly held beleifs is that homosapiens and H. neandathalensis are on seperate lines with H. erectus as their common ancestor
