Answers are k=4 and x^2+y^2+8x-8y+2xy=0 respectively. School has only taught us the equation of the locus of a parabola at the origin. I'm not too sure what Q 13 is saying when it says "use the definition of a parabola" The whole thing is tilted- so which equation do you use? @@

definition for a parabola is that the distance from a given point (the focus) is always equal to the perpendicular distance to a given line (the directrix). so you use distance formula to a point P(x,y) from S and perpendicular distance to the line y= x-2, and equate them
