when i did this last year i did:
atmosphere - separating the components of air using fractional distillation
lithosphere - Using Froth Floatation to Separate Chalcopyrite from Gangue
biosphere - Separating the Proteins in Blood Serum Using Electrophoresis
hydrosphere - Softening hard Water by Ion Exchange

Some of the websites i used were:
http://home.att.net/~cat6a/metals-IX.htm
http://ww.vicims.com.au/teacher_services/lesson_plans/froth_floatation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Water

www.webelements.com/webelements/scholar/elements/nitrogen/uses.html
www.umcsea.edu.sg/chem/GradeEight/UsesofOxygen.htm

Im not sure how good the websites are, but i hope this helps.
