I have a WDC SATA HDD, 320gb. Came from the shop as two partitions, C being around a hundred gigs and D being around 200.
I decided to format the hard disk 'cause I had like a virus or something. Now I was kinda hungover when I was formatting it so I wasn't paying attention (not that I could've done anything to 'cause this damn problem)
But now I'm missing 200gb~. Windows setup only detects the drive as being 100gb~. In the BIOS it recognises the hard disk to be 320gb.
Also, sometimes when I do the device manager thing for the hard disk and I populate it, it SOMETIMES sees the other 200gb~ as being allocated and other times it sees the hard disk to be only 100gb~
I've used multiple partition table error programs and some of them do the same as the device manager thing (sometimes shows, sometimes doesn't) but some always show the extra unallocated space.

Help?

you might need to assign the other 200gb to a drive, call it D if u want, because right now its just emptyness that hasnt been assigned to anything yet.

Happens when ur changing partition sizes, i was kinda paying attention, once u delete a partition, say an 80gb partition, the 80gb doesnt automatically fill in to the remaining partitions, its just unassigned, i assigned it to my 70gb partition, so that became 150gb and the 80gb of greyness disappeared.

this MIGHT be the case, not sure why ur device manager only sometimes see's ur 200gb and sometimes doesnt.

edit: if ur using vista, go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management, then play around, probably get a mate with u who knows what this stuff means if u dont understand it.

The problem is, I can't see the space at all in Windows setup. It says the hard disk is only 1xxgb, when it's meant to be 320 (minus all that space whoring crap, but it should still be around 280~) :(

if you can see the 200gb unallocated space in windows disk management then you should have the option to extend the c volume or create a new volume in the empty space.

or you can do the same in windows setup.

in windows setup you can delete the partition and then recreate it, or create multiple partitions

I did that many times. It read the whole HDD as only being 130gb.

By the way, holy shit I just did the windows disk management again, and what do you know, I created a new partition out of the unallocated space. I swear it didn't let me last time :spzz:
Anyways thanks <3

Did you have anything stored in the extra 200Gb???

IF so, can you access it?
