well, i was wondering if i should drop to general maths in year 12...
would that work? or would the completely different syllabus throw me off?

Keep two unit for a while, maybe even to the end of the year. You will find, if you still want to drop back down you will be better for it. And you won't lose any time either.

have you thought of what you wanted to do when you leave school?
if you want to go to uni, chances are youll need the very minimum of 2 unit maths, so if youre going to consider that pathway, i would suggest you to keep it
why not look for a tutor who can help you with your problems?

Woah.. totally wrong.

You can go to uni with no maths
for goodness sake, you can get into med with no maths!

Keep on with 2U until the end of the year, then, if you are not coping, drop to general :)

You can get into a science degree with no maths, but you'd be stupid to.

ppl say general maths is easy, it isnt that easy ... you want to escape from cosine rule in year 11 maths ? it'll come back in year 12 general maths ...
the only way to escape is to avoid both maths and general maths (don't do that)

i can get into electrical/software/telecommunications engineering (future career paths) by performing poorly at maths ext. 1 and studying english standard instead, but i'd be stupid to do so ... :( ... damnit ...

that depends on what you wanna do
if you wanna do engineering, commerce and science subjects without any maths....good luck
yeah you dont need maths for courses like arts, communications, law etc
like i said that depends on which courses you wanna do

If your not enjoying 2U maths atm, chances are you're not going to like it later on. However, 2U maths does give you a wider career path then general.

If your not enjoying maths then chances are you won't want to do a career that involves maths... it's probably smarter to drop down now as there is less to catch up on. The peoples in my year who dropped down later took longer in to get used to the general course.

But if you think you need it get a good tutor and work hard at it! I'm sure you can do great no matter what :) !

hahaaa

thanks you guys.

you give great advice.

i was leaning more towards the environmental science/ zoology/ food and nutrition area's (i know i should have done chemistry, but my stupid school couldnt fit it into my timetable without having to make me drop alot of other subjects)

hmmmmm.....all these decisions!

thanks again!

ta taar!

if you're not coping in 2u maths drop down.
You can always do a bridging course if you need to.

you're better off getting a good mark in a subject that's scaled badly than a bad mark in a subject that's scaled well.

I guess you could do a bridging course before uni starts also if you are worried about your maths level for the course.

Most people that drop from 2 unit though know the course and what is studied without having to do extra units to catch up. Although that being said most teachers will ask you to catch up on preliminary work.
