Dear Student,

You are currently enrolled in MATH1141 Higher Mathematics 1A. While I am pleased that there is such an interest in Higher, the enrolment numbers are much larger than expected, which indicates that there are students incorrectly enrolled in this subject.
"Please note that this course is designed for students who have a combined mark of >= 176 in HSC Extension 2 Mathematics or >= 145 in HSC Extension 1 Mathematics."
If you were an HSC student in 2010 and did not score marks such as this, then you should seriously reconsider your enrolment. The corresponding course MATH1131 (Mathematics 1A) satisfies the same pre/corequisite requirements for further subjects. If you are not a very able student you will struggle with the higher course and there is a stronger likelihood of failure. If you are unsure about your enrolment please contact f.fan@unsw.edu.au or myself peter@unsw.edu.au as soon as possible to discuss your situation.

The highlighted part is confusing me.
How do you get a combined mark of 176 or 145?

If you did 4u maths, 3u (Out of 100) +4u mark >= 176
If you didnt do 4u maths, 3u (Only out of 50) + 2u mark >=145

I got that too. I say: "My marks in MX1 and MX2 are not indicative of my real performance as a mathematician due to me being out of the HSC for two months".
