Just wondering - if you find it hard relating it to belonging - how come you chose it as a related text?

I'm thinking about using this text too. I found it related quite well to belonging as it had belonging as place and how Susie feels out of place in the inbetween and yet she doesn't quite belong o earth either. It is her journey of self discovery, shaped by the choices and lives of those she watches, that allows her to come to grips with her situation and find a sense of belonging in the relationships she forms with the others who have been murdered by Harvey.
It deals with how an event can irrevocably change a persons sense of belonging. You can see this in most of the characters with one of the better examples being Susie's mum.
You can also clearly see belonging as relationships as Susie feels she belongs on Earth because of the relationships formed there. There is also the aspect that Susie's death created relationships and gave others a sense of belonging. This relates to the name of the novel as 'The Lovely Bones' refers to relationships formed around her absence and the beauty in the tenuous relationships.
