Yeah i know what you mean! I always ended up dead! i would use about 4 different bookmarks each time, and end up reading the whole book eventually.:p

bookmark every 'choice' and come back to it wen ur dead. Some deaths were really disturbing...like getting crushed by a rollercoaster at high speed...and getting mauled to death by tigers...:(

In my childhood: Judy Blume, John Marsden, CS Lewis etc etc.
In my teens: a lot of Clive Cussler, Michael Stackpole's X-Wing series, Matthew Reilly, and numerous others.
Now: Whatever is a required HSC set text :(

the first book i can remember was charlottes web. our kindergarten teacher used 2 read it after lunch every day. i think i've read it about 20 times since.

as a kid i was always reading. i had to get new library cards all the time (ah, the old days when borrowing from a library involved no computers)

some of my fave's as a kid were:

anything Roald Dahl (i thought i was very much like matilda, i read it when i was about 6). i loved the BFG

the babysitters club (as all young girls do!)

dr seuss (i am sam, sam i am hehe)

where's wally (where is he, dammit! )

now i have no time to read for fun. i am about 3/4 thru "April Fools Day" by bryce courtenay, probably have read no more than 2 pages in the past 10 days :(

I had heaps. My personal fave was "the biggest most beautiful Christmas Tree" The other day my dad actually boxed them all up cos he reckons they will be worth something in the future. Another fave was "the little red caboose" I had heps of the golden circle books too "the kangarood from wooloomooloo" and the 'miffy' books.

When i got older i read heaps of Judy Blume, Paul Jennings, Morris Gleitzman. I never really got into Babysitters club though or goosebumps.

Does anyone remember the books they learnt in knidy like "Grandpa Grandpa" and "Mr Smarty Pants" and Dan the flying man"?

Remember:

Grandpa Grandpa come with me
Lets go fishing by the sea
what shall we fish for?
what shall we get?
Two big (somethings i can't remember!)

guess what? a friend and i discovered a conspiracy lurking in our library - there are no copies of enid blyton on the shelves! (ok, there's one, but it's gone missing) we were quite amazed, even if it is a high school library. my mum says that apparently they were taken off school reading lists about the time we were in kindy cos of their racial content - anyone else ever heard of this?

Enid Blyton was a deffinate favourite... there was also the complete series (24 books) of Noddy- I was so proud I'd read them all.
