Since the economy is in a fucked up state right now, it's highly probable that you will get sacked...In other terms, you're fucked for doing a Commerce degree LOL!$#@@!.

Says an 09er who apparently knows shit all about the workforce. Not all company's are sacking/retrenching their workforce. Go study for your hsc.

@OP: It's probably harder to get a job given the situation but not entirely impossible. If you have no previous work experience in your major area (what is your major) your bestb et would be to get into data entry or administration, or something along the lines of that.

Think of sexual thoughts, and they might offer you a high paying salary.

Depending on whether you have experience in commerce type jobs is a big factor in your salary. Im assuming you dont have any experience in a commerce type job; and by the looks of the salary's for graduate accountants and business consultants you will get around 40,000 a year. By advice is start as an accountant and get some experience, because when you do your salary should increase heaps. But if your good with computers, you should look into buisness analyst, ive heard that type of job is in high demand and pays quite well for graduates.

If its not close to $100k then its not VERY VERY VERY good money.
Well its VERY VERY VERY good money considering im only doing it for a year whilst i defer, i.e. un skilled labouring and get $28/hour for first 8hrs, then time and half for the next two and double time for the next two after that. Considering that we work from 6am-6pm, mon-friday. u do the maths

Considering that the OP has told us neither her major or work experience it's a little hard to offer advice.

So based on the limited information supplied: apply for graduate positions with big firms and work hard.

RE: the suggestion of working as a Business Analyst, like most fields it requires a specific skill-set and training

I guess that's what all labourers say: you do the maths, as im too stupid to add up my pay.
Yer thats what im like, im just so dumb.. I can't even do basic arithmetic. 4U maths means u prob have below par maths ability.

Commerce ... graduating salaries are pretty ordinary
Graduating salaries for most degrees are pretty poor.

Actuaries do well. Engineers do well (expect a decline because of the GFC though).

Commerce, Arts, Law.... all pretty average starting salaries. And a rude shock for the graduates as they discover that by the second day no one really cares about what they did in uni....

Personally I haven't graduated yet but when I do I won't be taking up any graduate programs because the pay cut would be massive.
