Can confirm it was better before
that's because my arm is twisted and I'm half asleep and I may or may not have parkinsons

but then again, I was helping a kid with maths so... I wanted to be extra neat so they don't write an essay saying is that the pronumeral n or π

They look at your working out for questions or something I think since like 50 people get 100 for 3U
lol no, it's to do with the decimal places of the aligned marks (from NESA)

The decimal places from the aligned marks arise from the interpolation between the band cut-offs. For example if 50/70 aligns to 90/100 then a mark of 69/70 aligns to 99.5/100 and a mark of 70/70 aligns to 100/100. However, because you only see the rounded figures you see 100/100 for both cases but in actuality they could be different raw marks.

i think he means for people who got the exact same aligned mark even after decimal places

Do they look at 4u state ranks for 3u state ranks?

Yeah How do you differentiate multiple people who get 70/70? (especially for something like 2 unit)

Then the other two criteria applies as shown (i.e. going back to the raw exam marks and moderated marks, failing that then go to similar courses in same subject area)

This is not made explicit in NESA's website, but I believe Ext1 marks are considered to differentiate students in Ext2. Not sure about the other way around.

If you can't differentiate any further using the three criteria as quoted then they are tied. It shouldn't be surprising that there are lots of ties every year in Maths Advanced (5 students tied first in 2020 and 8 students tied first in 2019). There is no evidence on the NESA website that a review of the working out is part of that criteria.

but for 3u/4u, there definitely would’ve been multiple people who were rank 1 internally and got full marks in the exam

yet there are no ties in the state ranks

how would you explain that

Surely there would be more than 20 people who would get 100 for 2 unit maths?
