I don't do history so I guess I can't really say, but I'm sure it would be fine to use excel as a really basic guide, just to know if the information you're researching about is actually relevant... but then again, that's what the syllabus is for...

I'd have a brief skim but definitely don't rely on it, the majority of your stuff should come from better sources.

my study plan includes writing notes, doing textbook questions, doing assessments

and thats about it

if I finish everything, I will learn ahead for maths

and if you're lazy, then don't study. let me beat you :D
