To all you bookworms :)

I'm searching for anything (including books) which provide a conflicting perspective to the generally accepted view of the Holocaust (e.g. all Nazis are evil).

For example, I've got The Reader.

But I also want to look at others.

So. if you know of any. please tell me.

Thank you very much! :)

Ok, I did not expect this as a reply - but I am aware that there are people out there who take this view.
Although that is a conflicting perspective, I prefer something more readily acceptable as 'another truth' to something generally accepted (e.g. I refer to The Reader again). Thanks.

I don't think it would be wise using "conflicting" views of the Holocaust in your Advanced english essays.

Pick another topic.

This is the list suggested on HSC Online:

  • September 11, 2001
  • 2008 Beijing Olympics
  • Tibet
  • War in Iraq
  • Climate Change
  • Fidel Castro and Cuba
  • The Cold War
  • The Holocaust
  • Nelson Mandela
Unfortunately, I'm most familiar with the Holocaust...

But I'll think about your advice...

Try reading "The Pianist". It's an autobiography, well-written, and regards all agents involved as humans rather than steriotypes. I assume that that's what you meant by alternative views?

Random fact about Schindler's List: The music during the opening credits is an instrumental version of the "Hungarian Suicide Song", which was translated into english for Billie Holiday as "Gloomy Sunday". It was rumoured for several decades that any person who listened to an instrumental version from start to end would fall into an endless sleep.

Wow! Thanks for contributing!

Should I or should I not do the Holocaust though?

:(

Edit:

It's alright. I've made up my mind.

Thanks everyone. :)
