at UNSW, do they select the students with the highest score from uai/umat/interview or is it that if you get a high enough uai/umat and pass the interview, you're in?

The former - they have a quota. They combine your uai/umat/interview into some kind of "overall" mark and then take the top "X" amount of people from that list.

Ok thanks. If they say you need a umat score of e.g. 183, does this mean 183/300? i dont get how this works because on the umat site it says each section is not out of 100...
