i feel so unsure if i actually want to pursue anything. how are ppl so sure they want to do, for example medicine or law? how do they not change their mind 1000 times? am i the only one who feels that way ??

Omg ikr I still don't know what I want to do 100%. I don't even know if I want to go to university in general. Before I wanted to do a b.arts and now I just don't know anymore. I don't know why, my interests didn't change I just.. don't want to anymore? Idk it doesn't help my predicted atar is low so I don't have many choices

me too i still have engineering in my uac but i know i don't want to do it anymore. i waited my whole life for uni and i don't think i even want it. i think i might do tafe or work a bit but i don't know if ill ever know what i truly want

i totally get what you mean. i only really chose a bachelor of primary education because i didn’t know what else to do. some people tell me it’s a great option for me, and others keep on saying i could do “anything i want” and that im making a mistake and i don’t have the right personality for it. it’s very confusing. i think we have to remember what we chose now won’t really decide the rest of our lives, you can do so many different things and change if you don’t think it’s right for you anymore. it’ll be fine.

i agree but i feel a lot of pressure since my family is not very financially stable and im expected to start working soon. i have no time to 'experiment' i kinda have to choose now and im worried ill accumulate debt from degrees i didn't even finish. im sorry im worried tbh because i have so much responsibility now

I get it that sounds so scary me too I've been working since year 11 so I could help my parents out and now I'm worried my indecisiveness will affect them too

i hate to be overly negative but my life feels so stressful these days, i worry too much about money and uni and my future. doesn't help my parents are always pressuring me to decide on a high paying job. hate that we have to do all this so young

also working through year 11 and 12 sounds like hell wow

you can’t be lol, even a lot of people who think that they want to do med or law drop out after a couple of years. pretty much all you can do is think about what subjects you like and decide off of that, chances are you’ll find something you like eventually, even if that takes an extra year of study (but also, don’t be discouraged just because there’s one unit you have to take that you dislike, every degree has a couple of those)

bruv uni really doesn't cost anything here compared to other countries, unless you do some absolutely useless degree it shouldn't be hard to pay off at all.

it really is just is a risk you would have to take if you want to go to uni, just try your best to pick something you like if you don't get out quick. I'm pretty sure unis have a sort of 'trial' period at the start of your enrolment next year and you just need to get out before the enrolment deadline after which ur locked for a whole semester. the semesters are like 4k its not that much of a financial burden even if it does take you a bit longer to decide you don't wanna do it.

also keep in mind that while you can start earning more earlier with tafe there is a lower income ceiling compared to majority of degrees unless you pursue a B.Arts, theology or something else like that which will take longer to establish income and have a lower income ceiling

I don't think it's overthinking because it does obviously affect your future what career you end up choosing. Especially if you have to support your family financially as well, it's not easy and you do have to be more careful when deciding but I think you will end up being okay and who knows you might actually end up enjoying your course. If I'll be okay you'll be okay too considering I have a lot less choices than you good luck
