I just got my marks and overall rank for this semester and I’m genuinely worried about how my ATAR will turn out and if it’s even possible to get a 90+. My rank/ marks are

English Extension 2: 17/20, overall rank 4/7
English Extension 1: 19/20, overall rank 5/50
English Advanced: 18/20, overall rank 59/150
Modern History: 41/50, overall rank 25/48
Economics: 28/50, overall rank 30/49
Maths Advanced: 10/50, overall rank 99/101

As you can see I did not to well in economics and maths advanced and I am worried that there isn’t enough time to change things around as I am already 40% of the way in my
internals. I got to a top 5 school if that makes a difference.

you literally had to do an IQ test to get in, one of the papers exclusively tested maths 💀.

how r u failing basic algebra that is math advanced
yeah and the other subjects were writing, ga and english which were all humanities/writing based? maths wasn’t even a big portion of the exam?

and the maths advanced course doesn’t even specifically test algebra so idk what you’re on abt. idk why you’re so rude when u got a 12/20 in english like u don’t speak the language every fucking day

There might be some time to change things around. What topics were in the exam anyways for maths? I think for Economics you can still turn things around, Mathematics Advanced might be really hard unless you exceed NESA's expectations (they change the moderation if there are 'outliers').

A lot of Year 12 Mathematics is a slight extension of Year 11 from experience, so you might want to check any relevant Year 11 topics while you are at it.

I was always getting or averaging the same mark in Maths, but I changed the way I would study for it and this term I actually got a very good score. Honestly you're ur kinda cooked but u can like clutch and do rlly good for the rest. I remember posting about it once while I was testing it let me see if I can find it.

Here:

Another tip which I feel like should help you, its something I'm currently trialing/working on, but I'm not sure if it works long term but:
Every time I sit down to do maths homework and/or extra questions, I have a sheet of paper with me with 4 columns:
1. Question I got wrong
2. What did I do wrong
3. What is the Correct Approach
4. What will I do differently next time

No MATTER WHAT you get wrong, you should always put it in there and NONE OF "I would've gotten this but like it was a silly and simple mistake" even a simple mistake like wrong number or misreading your own working out(Lol thats me). EVERY MISTAKE COUNTS.

BTW, I STRONGLY SUGGEST using physical paper and pen to write it down instead of typing. It will help you.

This should help you with recognising the common mistakes you make in a lot of the questions you do, should possibly help you fix them since you will know what to do. Also, I advise using ChatGPT to show you the working out and process, and you can even ask your teacher if your working out is up to their standards.

AND EXTRA TIP:

This is going to probably sound stupid but if it weren't for this advice, I wouldn't have been doing Ext right now, but in your exam if you're making silly mistakes, BE CAREFUL, like double check your answer and if it seems sus or it doesn't quite click in your mind, cross check with another method of working out.
(Thats why we have multiple methods of working out for the same solution)

But try not to be too paranoid or anything it could eat up time in your exams

Anyways, the choice is yours if you want to drop EXT Maths but if whether you are or not pursuing EXT Maths I still heavily recommend this just to try to see if it works for you.

GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN IMPROVE. DON'T WORRY 🙂
BTW: Using paper will eat up alot of time asw since you have to handwrite, you can do it on an ipad or something where you can see easily, paper is just what works for me.
