I attempted to replicate what I saw other people do.
I did much the same as everyone else said, just play around with things and find out what they do and do tutorials off the net, someone has already said it, but I found http://www.good-tutorials.com/ to be one of the most useful ones. I don't mind if you wask questions either.

you gotta remember tho photoshop has a VERY steep learning curve, ive been have a play with it, finding tutorials, even got ahold of this 4 cd training course, tried to replicate what others did, and even got a few other people to show me how to do siht just right. all over about maybe 3 years and i still dont know everything u can do with it
but my incredibly easy i mean, like photoshop takes alot of time, incredibly easy is like a few hours of your time to get it just right, bigger projects take forever... like a single photo touchup if i want it just right usually takes around 1-2hours for each photo, just to remove all the blemishes, fix up the lighting, camera angles, smooth the skin, make eyes a bit whiter, teeth whiter, colours more vibrant etc.

I learnt photoshop as part of a graphic design course. However it's fairly easy to pick up yourself. The best way to learn is just to play around with it for a while, and consult a tutorial if you can't figure out how to do something.

Started off just playing around with it, reading some basic tutorials and the like. The most important thing is spending time getting familiar with the ins and outs of the program. Play with different tools until you understand them. If you still don't, read a tutorial about the particular tool and continue to play with it. You'll eventually get it.
I started off just playing around with it and messing with photos of people etc, and now it's come to be a major part of my profession as a web/graphic designer. Definately worth learning

I got into drawing on computer using Paint on the old Win 95 system. Initially, it was wonderful that you can do some painting NOT on paper and the ease to fill things.
Then, my parents got an apple comp that came in with "PhotoShop 1.0" (lol it was distributed in a floppy disk). It was too complicated and slow so i just stopped.
Got back to it in year 9 when i did computer graphics. Of course with better monitors and processors, i've played around with it since.
