^ on account of "Yes they do" not being a very good answer to Abtari 's question, would you care to elaborate plz wah?

his question was: "do they publish the names of the top 20 or top 10 in ext 2 maths?"
i.e. Abtari knows they'll publish something - just not which one. so is it the top 10 or top 20?

Sorry. I should've made it clearer - the top students of each subject published by the BOS is determined by the number of students completing the course. In courses with less than 1000 candidates enrolled, only the top 5 students would be announced and published. In the case of the course with between 1000 and 10000 candidates, top 10 would be published. Any course with greater than 10000 candidates would have the top 20 students' names and schools published.

In the case of Mathematics Extension II, only top 10 would be published, as the number of candidates lies between 1000 and 10000.

I hope that is clear to all. :)

EDIT: Last year's top achievers in each course can be found at:

Whats a good [ie band 6 raw] mark in the MX2 exam?

I've heard people say its good to get even 60%.
'people say' alot of things, if you've studied your arse off all year
you might aswell get 90% raw...

it just depends on your own expectations of yourself,
and what type of marks you need to do your desired
course at uni

personally i reckon 60% raw is ok...
but in the 2005 exam i reckon most people will absolutely
kill Q1-5 which already gives 75/120 of all marks,
so this year the average will be above 60%

could 10,000 people be doing maths ext 2?

this year 10,000 is like 1/6 people in the state doing maths ext 2...
which doesnt make sense to me, since at my selective school we have
less than 1/10 of all students doing maths ext 2.

He said lies between, I think this year the number of students is around 3000 something. Check the media guide on the BOS site.

EDIT: damn beaten to it. :(

Failed (most likely). Dammit what a shitty exam. So freaking long with so many 1 mark questions dammit. For me, 2001 was so much easier than the piece of crap we did thies year. Style of questions seem different this year too.

I was talking to few guys who generally top maths at my school and they were commenting that although the exam was quite long, all of the questions were do-able. 7 and 8 were a easier compared to the previous years.

Anyways, i got owned in the circle geo, didnt have time to do much of question 8, fudged the induction and the list goes on

oh wells, bugger it
