I just thought it would be great if other people can discuss how do these photos relate to discovery or how they represent discovery, I'm having trouble with these photos.

For the 1st image... uhh... the burning of the buildings is symbolic of the child's confronting discovery of society. The burning graphics represent the destruction of the total innocence of that child. The two characters (in the foreground) head directions create a vector, pointing toward the burning buildings, emphasising the child's discovery.

For the second one...

The bright and vivid colours, in particular the butterfly sails of the ship, represent the excitement of this discovery to the native people. The metaphorical depiction of butterflies as the ship's sails, convey the native people's feelings of amazement and wonder. The butterfly sails represent the ship almost flying along the sees, almost unreal to the native people, hence the metaphor. The overall fantasy mood is symbolic of the happiness that can be a result of discoveries.

couldn't of put in any better really. You could also point out its the child has made a personal discovery of a place getting bombed. This is shown through the naive boy sticking close to parents and being hugged closely for security???
