How do we simplify ?

Recall the power property. i.e. logx^2=2logx
As well as division and multiplication. e.g. log3/x=log3-logx; log3x=log3+logx

$5\log_3 x + \log _3 x^2 - \log _3 x^7 = 5\log _3 x + 2\log _3 x - 7\log _3 x$ (by the log law $\log _b x^r = r\log _b x$ )

$= (5+2-7)\log _3 x = 0$ , as 5 + 2 – 7 = 0, and $0 \cdot \log _3 x = 0$ .
