10 or so minute drive to the station.
10 minute wait for the train (or I turn up as it arrives...).
45 to 60 minutes on an intercity service to Redfern (includes direct services and those when I transfer at Strathfield or Central for a Refern train), 50 to 60 on a suburban express, 60 on a regular service, or 65 to 75 on the other regular service.
10 to 15 minute walk to class.

it will be 15 minutes drive to train station
5-10 minute wait at the station
45-60 minute train to central, minimal stops (blacktown, parra, redfern, central i think)
15 minute bus to unsw
however the fuck long it'll take me to walk to my first class...

Western Sydney is real close!! :)

i think its not really a choice for most ppl, living in the city is frickin expensive, and i could not earn enough on weekends to pay rent when i am at uni 5 days a week. I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.... spend 3 hours a day travelling, or spend that 3 hours working to pay rent... either way its not much fun.

The purple weekly passes - i think its $27 for a week and it lets you travel as much as you like on buses, trains and ferries :)

but it really depends where you are going and whether its a short trip or not.
