Yes it is.
You should only have 3-5 body paragraphs.

I think 900-1000 (4 pages of normal refill paper) is realistic for 40 minutes.

I reckon it really depends on the subject and the topic covered., for example,

if ur doing Business Studies, the report writing will take up atleast 8-9 pages for a high mark. i know it sounds crazy but it is the truth.

people go up to 16 pgs. i've heard of such cases...

but yes a general essay would be around 2-3 pgs
