Hi, for those who have timetables already, how many hours/long is your longest straight back to back lecture session? I got 5 hours non stop from 9-2pm on mondays, but I've been told there's a good chance I dont need to attend my first 2 hour lecture regularly. Are there any people spending 6-7 straight hours doing lectures at uni?

I have 12-5 on Wednesdays, however 3 hours of that is a seminar which I'm sure will either have a break halfway through, or finish 30min early

I've tried to put all my lectures / tutorials / workshops / etc. early in the morning because hopefully I'm going to be that awesome and hang out at uni all day LOL.

On thursdays or wednesdays (i've got it written down at home) I've got a three hour workshop for chemistry 1 which goes from 9 am till 12 pm :(

6 hours on Wednesdays, 11-5.

Two hour tute, followed by four hour prac, so it's really not that bad.

Currently the longest I have is 4 hours on Monday. This could change if I add another course into my repertoire, but I'd have to reorganise my timetable all together to avoid having about 8 hours in a row on Monday and like 6 or 7 on a Friday.

I think I'm pleased with max 4 hours in a row (without a break) and Wednesday entirely off.

My timetable for this semester says I have to go to uni for 3 days a week but with Monday's being a straight 8:00am-5:00pm day with a mix of lectures/tutorials/practicals with no gap.

Great! No time to eat or what! :(

That's freaking ridiculous - I'd try to get that changed. Call the university and see if you can get into a different lecture or something on a different day and explain to them that 8am - 5pm is your current schedule; that's just unreasonable for anyone to do.

That's so shit. How many contact hours in the week total?
get used to it honey, god u guys have no idea what uni is like, its like doing an hsc every 6months ( if you are a science or enginnering student, if you do arts , law or commerce its just a bludge) , yes you do get very long hollidays, but there is so much work crammed into the 12wk semesters .

Also, everyone gets really shit timetables like 6+ hours straight, thts the way uni is, you can ring up and try to do something bout it but 90% chance they cnt change anything, the sheer scale of the university means that they cant just change your timetable, because that has flow on effects for the whole university, try getting 40 000 people all with good timetables , its understandably quite difficult. The engineering/science students complain because they are at uni for too long, the arts students complain they are not at uni long enough and its not worth having 12hrs spread over 5days, they would rather cram it into 1-2 full on days. etc etc....

I had 11 hours in a row in my first year, 9:30am - 8:30pm.

2 hour lecture
2 hour prac/theory
4 hour rehearsals
2 hour lecture
1 hour tutorial

I've also done quite a few 8:30 - 5:30 days as well. When it comes to my final weeks of session, I can be doing prac stuff for up to 50 hours a week.

Regular contact hours vary between 20 and 35 hours a week.
