Just wondering whether nesa takes into account how many pages u write for ur essays cuz like i write pretty small so the 1400 words of my essay fits into about 4 pages only whereas my friend's 1200 fits into 6 pages and i remember my teacher saying you cant get a band 6 if u write less than 6 pages so... do i have to write bigger or nah??

no of pages are irrelevant, since writing sizes significantly differ (like you stated)

After you get into the writing range of 900+ for essays and 800+ for creative (what I think is necessary to write a detailed, in-depth and good response) the amount or words or pages is irrelevant. My essays were about 800 words creative, 1100 discovery essay, mod A 1000-1100, 1000-1100 for mod b, 1000 mod c

If we're talking strictly page count I always ended up getting to 5 pages for most my essays (given my handwriting size). I would definitely take the advice of following word count over page count but if your in the exam room you can use my estimate for a 950 word essay to be 5-6 pages

I'm more concerned on why you're trying to write 1400 words for hsc...

Another big reason that it is so difficult to do well in standard is because you are marked against Advanced students in paper 1 (super unfair but it is what it is), so the majority of standard students will always fall in the bottom half, which makes it really hard for them to score well overall even if they smash paper 2. Thus, strategically I'd probably spend a tad extra time making sure that that paper 1 (so discovery) is completely airtight and at a standard as close to advanced students as you can. This was only explained to me recently so I hope I have got this right hahaha, but this is my understanding of it.

Good luck;)
