I'd just like to ask, how many quotes should one memorise for an essay?

Around 3 per body paragraph so 12 I guess

They don't have to be long either; just enough to get your point across (and enough language techniques if it's for English).

For Adv Eng, I recommend 3 per paragraph if doing 4 paragraphs
However if doing 3 paragraphs I'd do 4 quotes per paragraph
Ultimately, quality over quantity - don't put quotes in for the sake of putting quotes in
